Details

Rooted in a centuries-old tradition from Rajasthan — the Wild Fern Handmade Bagru Block Print Throw is a piece you'll reach for every day. Hand block-printed in the ancient Bagru tradition, each throw is crafted by skilled artisans using intricately carved wooden blocks and natural dyes: deep indigo from indigofera plants, rust red from madder root, iron black from rust and tannin. The fabric is prepared through a traditional mordanting process before printing, so the colours bond deeply with the cotton and age beautifully over time.

The result is a textile that is quietly beautiful: earthy, grounded, and full of handmade character. Look closely and you'll see the soft, slightly fuzzy edges of each block stamp — a hallmark of authentic hand printing — and the gentle variation in ink depth that no machine can replicate. No two pieces are ever identical. These are not mass-produced — they are made slowly, by hand, in the way they always have been.

Details

Frequently asked questions

A little about us, and the practical things you might want to know before choosing a piece for your home.

Who's behind The Kokum Tree?

Hi, I'm Deepti. I grew up in Jaipur, surrounded by colour, pattern, and craft. Years later, while making a home in Canada, I found myself missing that character in everyday things. The Kokum Tree grew from that feeling: a collection of handcrafted textiles I'd love to have in my own home.

We're based in Toronto, and that's where we ship your orders from.

Where does the name come from?

Kokum is a deep-red, wonderfully tart fruit from coastal India. It has a character all its own, and that felt like the right name for what I wanted to build.

How long will my order take?

We usually get your order ready in 1–2 business days. Our standard delivery estimate is 5–8 business days. For areas near Toronto, it is usually much quicker than that.

You can find our delivery information in the shipping policy. If you're choosing something for a particular date, email me before ordering so we can check.

Will there be extra charges?

You'll see shipping, taxes, and duties before you pay, so you can check everything before placing your order. There are no hidden costs. Ever.

What if my piece doesn't feel right at home?

Sometimes you only know whether a piece works once you see it in your own space. If it isn't quite right, you have 14 days from delivery to request a return.

Please keep it unused, with its tags attached and in its original packaging. You'll also need your order confirmation or another proof of purchase. Email me at hello@thekokumtree.com before sending anything back, and we'll take you through the next steps.

How do I arrange a return?

Email hello@thekokumtree.com with your order number and let me know which piece you'd like to return. Once we've checked that it meets our return conditions, we'll send you instructions for sending it back.

Please wait for those instructions before posting your parcel. We can't accept returns that haven't been arranged with us first.

Who pays for return shipping?

If you're returning a piece because you've changed your mind, the size doesn't work, or the colour isn't right for your room, you'll cover the return postage. The original shipping charge is non-refundable.

If your piece arrives defective, damaged, or we've sent you the wrong item, we'll cover the return shipping. Please contact me first so we can arrange it with you.

What if my piece arrives damaged or faulty?

I want you to be happy with what you receive. Please check your order when it arrives and email me as soon as you notice a problem. Include your order number, a short description, and a few clear photographs so I can understand what's happened.

We'll review it with you and arrange the next steps. If it needs to come back because it's defective, damaged, or incorrect, we'll pay for the return shipping. This applies to sale and discounted purchases too.

Can I return something I bought on sale?

For a change of mind or a sizing preference, pieces bought on sale or with a discount code or coupon are eligible for an exchange rather than a refund. Please get in touch within 14 days of delivery, and keep the piece unused, with its tags and original packaging.

If your discounted piece arrives defective, damaged, or incorrect, it remains eligible for a refund under our return policy, and we'll cover the return shipping.

What will my refund include?

For an eligible return, we'll refund the price you paid for the returned piece, including any applicable sales tax. For a change-of-mind return, the original shipping charge is non-refundable.

If you paid import duties or taxes separately when your parcel arrived, any refund of those charges needs to be requested through your local customs authority.

You can read the full conditions in our return policy.

Still have a question?

You can reach me at hello@thekokumtree.com. If something in the photographs or description isn't clear, please ask. I'd rather help you choose than leave you guessing.
